What happens at a lodge meeting?
The lodge deals with its business and carries out its ceremonies, which are best thought of as one-act plays. There are three, called degrees, and they teach lessons about equality, self-improvement and making good use of one’s life. Afterwards members dine together at the Festive Board.
What is the Royal Arch?
The Royal Arch is a separate order that meets in Chapters. Its ceremony builds on the third degree and completes a Freemason’s journey.
Why do Freemasons wear aprons?
The apron comes from the working clothes of the stonemasons. It shows a member’s rank and becomes more decorated as he progresses.
Can women be Freemasons?

Why is Freemasonry misunderstood?
Old suspicions, films and novels, and Freemasons’ own reluctance to talk about it in the past. Today Masonic halls hold open days, Freemasons’ Hall in London offers public tours, and members are happy to answer questions. Ask us anything.
